ABOUT THE HOST
Jaimelyn Gray is a Milwaukee-based theatre artist, producer, and recovery advocate dedicated to building bold artistic spaces and honest conversations about creative life. She is the Founding Artistic Director of The Constructivists, a nonprofit theatre company she launched in 2017 to produce daring, darkly comedic, and boundary-pushing work that often falls outside the scope of larger regional institutions. Under her leadership, The Constructivists have produced eight seasons of intimate storefront theatre, championing both established playwrights and new voices while creating opportunities for local artists to collaborate, experiment, and take creative risks.
Jaimelyn’s work centers on storytelling that confronts complicated human experiences with honesty, humor, and a little bit of danger. Through productions, development programs like Under Construction, and community partnerships, she has helped create a platform for artists in Milwaukee to develop new work and engage audiences in challenging, thought-provoking theatre.
In addition to her artistic leadership, Jaimelyn is a certified Peer Recovery Coach, bringing lived experience and peer support principles to her work in the recovery community. She is passionate about reducing stigma around addiction and creating spaces where artists can speak openly about recovery, identity, and creative practice. This work informs her developing projects focused on the intersection of recovery and the arts.
Beyond theatre, Jaimelyn works as a communications professional, producer, and creative collaborator across multiple arts organizations and projects. Her work often bridges artistic production, community building, and advocacy for the sustainability of small arts organizations and independent artists. She is also the mom of a disabled adult Princess, and the wife of an amazing immigrant Husband.
She lives in the Milwaukee area, where she continues to produce theatre, support artists, and explore how creativity and recovery can coexist—and thrive—together. 🤘
